Room 406, morning

Isabel still felt a bit guilty about leaving Annie behind while she was in LA so she decided to spend the morning making it up to her. Mostly that meant using her powers to send a small toy mouse zooming around the room for the cat to stalk.

The door was open so she could meet some of the new or even not so new people if any happened to wander by.

"Nice to meet you," she smiled. "How are you settling in?" Annie walked over to stalk the new shoes in the room.

"Likewise," Liz nodded, "so far it's been okay, Fandom's different to any other school that I've been to,"

She couldn't help herself, she laughed. "Ya think? What gave it away? The squirrel at check-in? Or the random warnings I'm sure people have been giving you?"

"A bit of both," she admitted, "it wasn't quite what I was expecting that's for sure,"

"I know the feeling," Isabel nodded, trying to distract Annie before she pounced on Liz's shoes with another toy. This one laced with catnip. "It was a year ago today that I walked in to the welcome party and wound up face to face with a small purple dragon."

"A dragon?" no one had mentioned anything about a dragon to her.

"Lockheed. He left last Spring though. Then we were dragon free till July. When the Jello dragons invaded," she chuckled, remembering. "Then we were sticky."

"Yeah I've heard about the invasions that take place here," Liz nodded, "they certainly didn't include that in the brochure's,"

"If they included half the stuff that actually happens here in the brochure, I'm not sure they'd have many students," Isabel pointed out. "I came here trying to escape the weirdness. Instead I found weirdness central."

"My guardian said that this would be a good school for me to attend," Liz replied, "even though I don't think even he knew about everything here and he's seen some pretty weird stuff,"

"This place takes weird to an entirely new level," she agreed. "I thought I was coming to a nice normal boarding school. But ultimately, this has turned out to be the best place for me."

"It seems to be that way from what I've heard so far," Liz said, "I had some trouble at my old high school and my guardian knew about this place so he sent me here, it seems okay so far,"

"Hopefully it will be," Isabel nodded, not wanting to pry too much with someone she only just met. "I know I've been happier in my last year here then I have been for most off my life."

"The people I've talked to so far seem to like it here," Liz replied, "so I'm hoping that this place will turn out okay," because she knew that if it didn't, there really wouldn't be anywhere else for her to go apart from the BPRD.

"As long as you don't mind the random invasions or occasionally being attacked by your books? You'll be fine," she promised.

"It'll certainly make my life a lot more interesting," Liz replied.

"Oh definitely. That's one thing. This place is never, ever boring." Isabel tilted her head, "So what's the craziest thing someone has told you?"

"The trolls seemed pretty crazy," Liz replied

"They were crazy. And smelly. But they were real," she said. "I was right in the middle of the fight."

"How big was the fight?"

"Huge. The whole school was involved in one way or another it seemed like," Isabel replied. "People were either hostages fighting their way out, or rescuers fighting their way in."
