Room 406, morning

Isabel still felt a bit guilty about leaving Annie behind while she was in LA so she decided to spend the morning making it up to her. Mostly that meant using her powers to send a small toy mouse zooming around the room for the cat to stalk.

The door was open so she could meet some of the new or even not so new people if any happened to wander by.

"Most people are harmless. But be careful about which closet doors you open," Isabel said, remembering last summer. "Sometimes there's gremlins, and sometimes you'll get turned into a small animal."

"A... small animal? Like a mouse?"

"Actually my boyfriend spent time as a hedgehog last summer." She pointed at a picture of her and Greg from the rafting trip. Before they got wet and Greg's spikes deflated. "It was oddly appropriate."

"Did that make hugging him prickly?" Ami said completely deadpan but dissolved into light giggles rather rapidly.

"He was wee!" Isabel laughed, holding up her hands to show how little he was. "Hugging wasn't much of an option. I did a lot of nose rubbing. Oh, and for the record, if you turn into an animal around here, when you turn back. You're naked. Just so you know."

"You are?" THis was not something that appealed to Ami very much. "In front of everyone?"

"If you're not careful yes," she nodded. "Although most of the time people change back when they wake up in the morning. So if you're ever a small animal? Make sure you go to bed someplace alone." Isabel shook her head, remembering that morning. "Poor Greg went to sleep curled up on my pillow and woke flailing for a sheet. We'd only been dating for a few weeks so he was terribly embarrassed. Fortunately I'd been warned. So I had a change of clothes for him."

Even the thought made Ami blush. "I do not think it will be a problem" she was certain that she was not going to be having any boyfriend or anything of the sort any time soon.

"You know, this school is weird."

Isabel laughed. "Ya think? But don't worry, I'm sure you'll do fine."

Isabel's laugh was contagious and Ami laughed with her. "Oh, someone warned me about a locker, but they did not say which one or why ishouldbe weary of it..."

"That would be Locker 327. It has a habit of sucking people in and keeping them for a few days. Avoid it at all coasts," she warned.

"Oh. The people are jsut sitting there in the locker?"

"I'm not sure," Isabel admitted, shrugging a bit. "I've never wanted to get near enough to find out."

"probably sound. Though now i am curious."

"It's probably one hell of a research project for someone. But not me."

"I wonder if i could do that for extra credit for a class. Not sure which class it would be though."

"If you find a teacher to sponser you maybe you can do an independent study? I'm not sure which teacher though. There's a bunch of new ones this term."

"Perhaps once i get to meet them all over the course of the term."

"What classes did you sign up for?" Isabel asked. "I'm hoping I'll get all the ones I picked. Some of them looked pretty popular."

"I signed up for Engineering, Zen computers, Forensics and Popular culture. How about you?"

"Ummm...Thinks fast... Religion, Villians, Hunting, Survival Tactics and So you want a revolution. They all looked pretty intersting." She shook her head, "Of course now I'm stuck trying to figure out which class to mention to my folks when I call home. Explaining Hunting might be a bit difficult."

"Religion might be safe? Diversity and all."

"At this school? Probably not. There's a very real possibility the guest speaker could be Kali one week," Isabel pointed out. "But mom doesn't need to know that."

Ami giggled. "I meant Religion might be safe to tell one's parents about."

"Well it is certainly easier then explaining my Constant Vigilance workshop over the summer."
