Room 406, evening

After a weekend of fun and a surprisingly deep conversation, Monday brought workshops of insanity and brain-breaking. Isabel was still chuckling when she returned to her room after workshops. With nothing pressing to do, Isabel opened her laptop and started to search for some decent Supers fanfic.

"Oh absolutely," Isabel nodded. "I wouldn't waste my time on anything trivial. Nope, not me."

"The last week of classes and you're doing homework," he said, shaking his head. "Must I be the exciting one in this relationship?"

"Yes, you have to," she replied, shutting the laptop and setting it aside. "I depend on you to keep my life interesting and entertaining."

"Apparently so by the message you left me last week," he said, smile turning smug.

Isabel stared. "What message?"

"Right," he said, thinking she was playing dumb. "You mentioned wanting to lick me."

"Oh my god. You got that message?" she flailed. "I didn't know who was going to wind up with it but I never thought it would be you!"

He laughed, covering his face behind his hand. "Wasn't meant for me?"

"No! Honestly it wasn't meant for anyone in particular," Isabel explained. "I was just contributing to the chaos of phone messages that day. Was that the only one you got?"

"Oh, definitely not," he said. "It was just the best one. I never thought I'd hear those words from you directed at me."

She rolled her eyes at him. "They weren't. So don't glee too much. Or I won't give you your present."

"Present for what?" he asked, looking around.

"I brought you back something from New York," Isabel smiled, habit making her unconsciously run her thumb over the bracelet Cedric had given her. "It's no where near as nice as this. But I think you'll like it."

"You brought me something back from New York?" He smiled widely. "Did you have fun?"

"I did," she nodded, heading over to rummage through a dresser drawer. "We saw the Met, the Empire State Building, Central Park Zoo, and we went for a horse and carriage ride." Isabel returned to her bed holding a bag and patted the spot next to her. "Come sit."

"That's a lot for a weekend," he said, smiling despite not being able to not think about the first time he'd been there. "I'm surprised you're still not asleep."

He took a seat on the bed.

"My feet were ready to fall off," she laughed. "Still it was fun to see Karal and Gavin's reactions." Reaching into the bag, she pulled out Kong. "Here, he was sick of New York."

Cedric took the stuffed animal, an amused smile on his face. "A...gorilla?"

Isabel looked horrified. "Not just any gorilla! That's King Kong!"

"All right," he said, holding Kong up. "What's the difference between King Kong and a gorilla?"

"King Kong is a giant gorilla," she explained. "Remember? I told you about him. I still have to get the movie for us to watch one day." A second grab in the bag produced a snow globe. "King Kong and the Empire State Building sort of go together."

"Right right," he said, smiling at Kong. "I'd forgotten about him already since I didn't actually think I'd see him. Especially a fluffy him. He's very cute."

He took the snow globe and shook it up, grinning anew. "Thank you, Isabel. This was very thoughtful of you."

"Isn't he? I had a choice between one that was soft and snuggly or one that was ferocious and roared. I went for cuddly." Isabel shrugged, smiling back at him. "It made you smile. That's all I wanted."

"It did," he said and even hugged Kong. "He's very ferocious in his own way."

"Yeah, he'll snuggle you to death," she laughed. "But at least he won't lick you."
