After handwave getting the books from Veronica that need to be translated in order to try and find a cure from Angel, Isabel settled down on her bed, books and notepad in hand. Considering she's never done anything like this before? This could take a while.

[door's open, but going AFK until about 7:30. I'm around.]

Peter wandered up to the fourth floor. He'd be leaving tomorrow until Sunday, so he definitely wanted to say a goodbye to Isabel.

Peter poked his head into the room. "Hey there."

Isabel looked up, blinking several times to get her eyes to focus properly. "Hey yourself. What's up?"

"I'm heading home tomorrow for a long weekend. I wanted to say bye." Peter noticed the blinking. "Are you okay?"

"Oh, thanks. I hope you have fun. And I'm fine," she said. "It's just I've been looking at this for awhile. I think it's starting to make my eyes cross." She gestured towards several books lying open on the bed. Most of them either written in some odd writing or looked like a guide to translating the odd writing.

"Thanks."

Peter took a quick glance at the books. "Looks like The Big Book of Fancy Scribbles to me. What is it?" Peter asked.

"I'm not sure exactly other then a great plot device to keep Isabel occupied while real life kicks my ass. But Veronica and Janet think there might be something in here to help Angel." She shrugged, "I want to do something to help. If this is it? Fine."

"Eep. I hope that works out," Peter said.

"I'd ask how you're enjoying the nice, quiet break so far, but that makes it sound like you're not exactly on the nice, quiet side of it."

"I know, he's not doing well. I sat with him for a while on Sunday. He was unconscious the whole time," she said.

And then another shrug, "It's quiet, and I don't mind doing this. Angel's a friend, and that matters. Besides, I still have to run the trip to Baltimore on Thursday, so that'll be my fun for the week."

"That trip should be fun," Peter said, happy to change subjects. "I'm sorry I'll be missing it."

"I know, it would have been fun," she said. "There's so much to do, I'm not even sure I'm going to see it all. But I'm definitely visiting the aquarium, even if they don't have alien fish."

"Any exciting plans for when you're home?" she asked. "One of these days I do want to go up to New York City. It looks such an exciting place. There's cities in New Mexico, but nothing like that."

"Nothing big planned. Mostly it'll just be family time with my aunt, probably hanging out with my best friend there, and I'm hoping to stop by my old workplace," Peter said. "It should hopefully be nice and quiet."

"New York is pretty cool. You definitely have to visit. Just maybe try to avoid my New York. There's too much excitement at times."

"That's nice. I do miss home a bit. But I'm not ready to go back yet. Still to much to deal with. Maybe by June," she said. "I don't know, you're New York might be fun. It's be fun to see the sights with a native."

"I'm lucky in that my home situation is actually kind of... well, it's screwed up, but only one other person there is fully aware of how screwed up it is, and she's mostly okay with that, so it's a plus," Peter said.

"And, hey, if you ever want to visit, I'd be happy to show you around New York."

"Having someone that understands usually helps. Altough things being screwed up in the first place is never any fun," she said. And then, not wanting to pry, she added, "I will take you on that offer one day. And I'm going to want to hit all the tourist spots, even the tacky ones."

"I don't know. Things being screwed up keeps things interesting, at the very least," Peter said off-handedly.

"And trust me, all of the tourist spots are tacky. Some are just cleaner than others."

"There is that," Isabel agreed. "But there are times just plain boring wouldn't be so bad."

"Tiffany's is considered tacky?"

"Only since they started serving breakfast," Peter offered.

Isabel groaned and threw a crumpled up piece of paper at Peter's head.

Peter caught it easily. "You know it was a good joke. Don't pretend it wasn't."

"It was good," Isabel admitted. "I think I'm seriously outclassed in the witty repartee category."

"Hey, I have a year of nervous blathering while people are trying to shoot me to fall back on," Peter said. "It makes the jokes so very easy."

"You and Maria would get along well," Isabel smiled. "Nervous blather is usually her job when we face life or death situations back in Roswell. But only after she sniffed her cypress oil."

"It's a great coping mechanism. Also, it annoys the crap out of the bad guys. And an annoyed supervillain is a sloppy supervillain," Peter explained. "In case you ever need to know that."

From: [identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com
"Honestly? I don't plan on meeting any supervillians. But if I do? I'll keep that in mind," Isabel laughed. "And who knows, maybe I'll even get a marshmallow."

"I wouldn't count on it. I'm pretty sure that's just for monochrome hooker ninjas who are cracked out of their freaking minds," Peter suggested.

"And that's something that probably unique to Fandom. Although I guess not, since they had to come from somewhere," Isabel said.

"Yeah, Crazy Hooker mentioned to me one time that she apparently come from some insanely tough place or something. Which makes sense since, you know, it produced somebody THAT whacked in the head," Peter said.

"Makes perfect sense to me," Isabel agreed. "And wherever that place is? It's definitely not on my list of places to visit for vacation."

"I think it could be fun for a vacation. You know, if I ever lost my mind," Peter shrugged.

"Ack. I should probably get back to packing. Have fun with your scribbles, good luck with the Angel stuff, and I'll see you on Sunday, okay?"

"I'll keep that in mind if I ever see you planning a trip there," Isabel smiled. She reached over and gave Peter a quick hug. "Thanks, and I'll be around. So I'll see you then. Have a good trip."

"You, too. Have fun in Baltimore," Peter said as he left the room.
