Room 406, evening

Fortunately work had been quiet and Isabel was able to get a significant amount of work done on her applications. That's why she didn't feel guilty when she grabbed her laptop and answered an email, then flipped on the TV to look for something cheesy to watch.

The door was open.

"That's a good point." Meg said. "I hardly know anybody who came here just for the hell of it."

"Yeah, we've all got our stories," she nodded. "I came looking for a nice normal boarding school to hide at. Instead I found this place and people that turned out to be the best friends I've ever had. I got lucky."

"I came to hide out too." she said. "Seems a lot of people came here to do that."

"It's a good place for hiding. People look out for one another," Isabel told her. "It gives you a chance to figure out what you want, and to gather your strength to do what you have to do."

"Can I ask what you're hiding from?"

"This is going to sound so stupid..." she said, running a hand through her hair. "My Neptune friends, sort of? That guy, Duncan, left me for someone else in June and they all sort of took his side instead of mine. And I really couldn't stand to watch him and Veronica together."

"It's not. That crowd can be harsh," she said sympathetically. "I don't blame you for wanting to get away." It was weird to think of another Veronica though, one who wasn't dating Cam.

"Thanks." she said. She always felt kind of dumb when she told people why she was in Fandom. "Things are looking up here though. I've got friends and awesome, but weird, classes."

"Yeah, the classes are different," Isabel agreed. "Before my folks knew the truth, I always used to take one class that sounded normal, so at least there was one thing I could tell them about."

"Kinda why I signed up for Modern Feminism." Meg admitted. "Turns out that's my weirdest class, thanks to Deadpool."

"Gah!" she exclaimed. "I haven't had a class with him but I've heard him do radio. I can only imagine."

"I'm one of his minions." Meg said. "I don't know what that entails but I'm sorta scared of what he might ask me to do."

"He can't make you do anything. And if he tries? Well there's enough people around that'll back you up if you say no," Isabel promised.
