After spending the week worrying about Savannah and trying to get a particularly annoying paper done, Isabel was thrilled when Wyatt invited her to spend the weekend in San Francisco.

After a late night, Isabel was still half asleep when she climbed out of bed, pulled on one of Wyatt's t-shirts, and quietly went in search of the coffee maker, wondering if Wyatt would enjoy breakfast in bed.

Fork grunted as her elbow connected with his jaw, but didn't loosen his hold on Isabel. "You're feisty," he grinned, flipping her over on to her back. "I like it." He overdramatically bared his fangs again and went for Isabel's neck.

Isabel didn't.

Fortunately she managed to pull one hand free. "Sorry," she muttered concentrating on giving Fork an adrenaline powered TK shove.

Who knew vampires could fly? Fork certainly didn't, but he found himself sailing across the room and crashing hard into a wall. He got tangled in the curtain and he slid down the wall, letting a beam of sunlight into the room. He scrambled away from it in a panic, glaring at Isabel. "How the hell did you do that?" he demanded.

Keeping a watchful eye on him, Isabel got to her feet, her hand still outstretched in case he needed to be tossed around again.

"Would you believe me if I told you I'm an alien?"

"Right," Fork said, still sitting on the floor and leaning back against the wall because ouch. "There's no such thing."

"Funny. I know some people that would say the same thing about vampires."

Since Fork seemed willing to sit quietly for the moment, Isabel grabbed for her bag. She desperately wanted some real clothes on. "But consider this. You're obviously not where you expected to be. So something strange is going on."

"Don't get dressed on my account," Fork leered. "But you're right. This isn't where I'm supposed to be."

She ignored the leer. It was either that, or hit him over the head with something heavy.

"Well you're stuck here for at least another two days," Isabel told him as she pulled on a pair of pants. She'd change her shirt later. "Then you'll go back to where you belong. And I'll get my boyfriend back.

"You did this?" Fork said. "You traded your boyfriend for me?"

"Yeah, I did. I had this strange urge to become some vampire's breakfast."

He obviously wasn't the smartest vamp in the universe.

Fork smirked as he pushed himself to his feet, though he still kept his distance. "Maybe you like to live dangerously," he said.

He'd better keep his distance, otherwise he and the wall would be getting acquainted again.

"No, I'm just a boring college student," she answered. "No danger here."

"Then how did this happen?" Fork demanded. "Is your boyfriend in my coffin now?"

"Coffin? Seriously?" Isabel boggled. "Can you be anymore of a cliche? Let me guess, you also brood on a regular basis?"

"I don't brood," Fork said indignantly. "I enjoy being a vampire. You have no idea what it's like."

"No. I don't. But you'll have two days to tell me all about," she replied.

But at least he didn't brood. Two days would be forever then.

"So if you don't brood what do you do?"

"Hunt feisty blondes," Fork smirked.

Isabel rolled her eyes. "This feisty blonde will kick your ass. So unless you feel like spending the weekend unconscious and tied in a chair, don't even think about it."

"If we're stuck here for the weekend we might as well get to know each other," Fork said, his attitude undampened by the threat. "I promise I'll only nibble."

"Is that supposed to be some sort of come-on?" she sighed. "Because I'm really not impressed."

"You will be," Fork said. "You don't know what it's like to be with a vampire."

"And I'm not finding out!" Isabel replied with distaste. "That's just nasty."

"I could make you a vampire," Fork offered. "You could live forever, stay young and beautiful, like you are now."

"I haven't bought into the advertising," she told him. "I have no trouble with aging gracefully."

"You know other vampires?" Fork asked. She seemed far too familiar with the subject.
