Meerkat Cabin, Isabel's Alcove B?, Saturday Afternoon

After waking up and then going back to sleep for a few hours, Isabel showered and changed at the dorms, and then returned to Meerkat cabin regretably missing the Stickbug peace offering and any subsequent chaos because RL won't let me be around for it.

After listening to the radio broadcast, she was somewhat relieved to hear only minimal mention of what she did at Caritas and no mention of who she left with or where they went. Now she just had to work up the courage to face Bel, Parker, and Aeryn. Hiding behind a half closed curtain and staring at the ceiling is a good way to start.

Sometime after whatever chaos said "peace offering" brought, Aeryn knocks on the nearest wall. See, doors would be nice. She likes doors. "Isabel?"

"Aeryn. Hi," Isabel said sheepishly. "Did you have a nice time last night?"

"It was very strange, on several different levels," she says. "You?"

"It was different," she said shaking her head and sighing. "I accidently took a drink from Jack's glass. It had booze in it."

"You really weren't kidding about the effect of alcohol," she says, kind of unnecessarily. "I tried to check on you this morning."

"Jack walked me back to the dorms," Isabel replied. "It was much easier and faster then walking back here."

Aeryn wonders if she has to shoot him, but doesn't ask. "Feeling any better, at least?"

If Aeryn had asked Isabel would have told her that no, he did not need to be shot and in fact deserved a medal for putting up with her. "I'm feeling fine. The good thing is, apparently I don't get hangovers. The bad thing? I remember every little detail. Vividly."

"Hm. I was going to say the hangover thing wasn't fair, but it does balance out, it seems," she tells her. "At the very least, it was entertaining. If worrying."

"It balances out, definitely," Isabel agreed. "I should also point out that happened as the result of two swallows of Jack's bourbon and coke. I've redefined the term 'light-weight'." She shook her head and looked down, "I'm sorry if I worried you. And I'm sorry about the hugging to. I was just happy," she chuckled.

"Don't worry about it," she says. "I've actually had more random hugs. And at least you seemed to be having a good time with it." Yeah, she's not so good with the sympathetic.

"Thanks," Isabel smiled. "And I was having a good time of it then. Today? I'm a little embarassed. But it could have been a lot worse so I'll deal."

Parker came by later in the afternoon, and stuck her head in Isabel's alcove. "Hey. Need tomato juice and tabasco? Or did the water and aspirin do the trick?"

Isabel laughed, "Actually I'm hangover free. What I'd really like is a brain bleach or something. Because I remember everything. And I do remember you promising not to hurt me. So don't hit me for hugging you."

"Nah, I can endure the hardship on the understanding that I get warning so I can duck and cover next time," Parker said, smiling. "I'm glad the only ill effects are the memories, although that doesn't seem fair. How the hell did you get so plastered? You don't drink."

"If I can possibly help it, there will not be a next time," Isabel said firmly. "Because you only caught a part of the show and I really don't want to do a repeat performance." She sat up and moved to the head bed, leaving space for Parker to sit. "I don't drink. But last night I accidently took a drink from Jack's glass. With the bourbon in it."

Parker curled up on the bed, and shook her head. "Ohhh. Yeah, that would do it. Didn't you tell me you can't drink, way back when? No wonder you were so-- happy." She snickered a little. "Although nowhere near as bad as some people I've seen."

"Like I said, you only saw half the show." Isabel covered her eyes with her hands and tilted her head back. "I gushed all over Bel about what a good friend he was, I hugged Aeryn, and IsortofattackedJackandtriedtogoforatestdrive."

"Oh... damn. And-- you what?" Parker blinked at Isabel, and then put both hands over her face. And tried to stifle the giggles. "Isabel!"

Isabel could only laugh. "I know, I know. But obviously my inhibitions were lowered. And I was in a friendly mood. A very friendly mood." When she stopped laughing she could only smile softly. "He turned me down."

"I figured. Jack's not one for anything less than full informed cooperation." She smiled. "But I'll bet he did so very, very nicely. Nice enough that it almost didn't feel like a rejection?"

"Very nicely," Isabel agreed. "He did wind up staying night though. Which was...nice."

Parker grinned. "There's an 'awww' waiting to be said by someone. Not me, though. I'm glad he took care of you like that."

"No, no awwwing, that would be very un-Parker-like," Isabel grinned back. "He did, he really was a perfect gentleman. And if I didn't have an ever so practical head on my shoulders, I'd have a huge crush on him. But I do, so I'm safe." She snickered, "It was pretty funny though. I don't think I've ever seen him so flustered."
