Isabel's Room - 406, Hyperion Hotel, Wednesday morning

Despite being up late, Isabel was still up early. After getting dressed, she booted up her laptop and grumbled when there was only the faintest of WiFi signals available, apparently from the building next store. The signal did get stronger the closer she got to the window. Which explains why Isabel is currently perched on the window sill, looking up things to do in LA.

Just like in Fandom, the door to her room was open.

"The wand was usually used," Cedric said, laughing. "A simple spell or two to mend scrapes and cuts and broken bones. And I can pick a place to go? Is that wise?"

"See now why didn't you tell me this? I would have gone to see you when I gave myself a huge papercut while wrapping Christmas presents," she laughed. "Why wouldn't it be wise? I want to do something you'll enjoy." She handed over the notes. ""Is there anything on there that looks interesting?"

"I might pick something quite...bad," Cedric said, taking the notes and looking them over. "What are the La Brea Tar Pits?"

"They're huge pools of mucky, greasy stuff that have been around forever," Isabel explained. "Back when things like mammoths and sabertoothed tigers roamed around they would fall in and get trapped. Now palentologists excavate the site to pull out and study the old bones."

Cedric winced and then made another painful face. "That doesn't sound pleasant."

"It's actually kind of interesting," she shrugged. "It's hard to believe there were once things as big as mammoths wandering around what's now downtown LA. But if you'd rather do something else, that's fine. I want you to have fun."

He continued looking through the notes and paused on one in particular.

"This Getty Museum is in a real fortress?"

"I doubt it, at least not in the historical sense." Isabel rolled her eyes, "They probably mean fortress in the sense of some huge estate the Getty's built to keep out the common folk. But it does sound interesting."

"The Getty's are a prominent family, then?"

"If I remember my history class properly he was one of the richer American's in the last century," she nodded. "I think he made his money in oil."

"Hmmm." Cedric shrugged and said, "The art in the not a fortress sound interesting."

"Then that's what we'll do. I'm sure it'll be nice. I just hope the art is a little more understandable then some off the pieces I saw when we were in DC the last time," Isabel laughed. "Some of it was very odd to say the least."

"I haven't seen much more besides what's inside Hogwarts," Cedric said. "And those paintings typically talked to you."

"And once again I'm stuck wondering if you're teasing me or not," Isabel sighed.

"Oh, definitely not teasing," he said. "The paintings talk. A select few also guard the house common rooms and only allow entrance upon hearing the correct password."

"That sounds utterly amazing. You're not going to be disappointed when we go to the Getty if nothing talks back to you?" she asked. "Do you find it boring here? No ghosts, no talking talking paintings, no magic except what you make yourself?"

"No," he said quickly, remembering his recent experiences home. "No, I love it here for different reasons."

"The baked goods, right?" she teased.

"Amongst other things," he said, smiling again. "But yes, they are quite the reason for enjoyment."

"Then I'm just going to have to keep using them as bait in the traps I set to lure you down the hall," Isabel said, glad to see the smile.

"You really think you need to lure me down to your room?" Cedric asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, maybe not lure," she laughed. "How about they're for rewarding you for making that long and difficult journey down the hall?"

"Yes, those few feet are oh so difficult," he said, laughing a little. "The sweets do wonders to keep me energized."

"Because," Isabel started to say, then stopped, shaking her head. "Oh no, nevermind. I'm not going there. So when do you want to leave for the museum?" Yes, that was a 180 degree subject change. Smooth wasn't it?

"Were you going to make a dirty comment?" Cedric asked coyly. "And we can leave whenever. I'm not doing anything."
