Room 406, morning

Isabel still felt a bit guilty about leaving Annie behind while she was in LA so she decided to spend the morning making it up to her. Mostly that meant using her powers to send a small toy mouse zooming around the room for the cat to stalk.

The door was open so she could meet some of the new or even not so new people if any happened to wander by.

"Dawn, be for real! I don't care if everything else is sunshine and puppies, without chocolate it's definitely at least a minor hell dimension." She grinned up at Dawn, held out her hand towards the desk drawer and a minute later was rewarded with a bag of Dove pieces. "Sit, have some sympathy chocolate. And hi! Thank you and thank you once more for taking care of Annie and hell yes did we have fun."

"Thanks." Dawn took a piece of chocolate and started unwrapping it, plopping down on the bed. "You're welcome, and what'd you do?"

"Cedric and I went to an art museum one day, then a bunch of us went to Disney another day. There was time spent admiring the scenery on Muscle Beach," Isabel grinned, waggling her eyebrows. "Some shopping, and then a fun New Year's party at Angel's place."

"See, I was right with you until you said fun and Angel in the same sentence," she laughed.

"Yes, but I clarified," she replied, snickering. "I said Angel's place. Not with Angel. Actually I never really saw him that night. I talked to a few people but mostly I hung out with Cedric."

"Oooooooooo," Dawn teased.

"What?" Isabel puzzled before finally getting it. "Oh stop that. He's my friend for heaven's sake. Nothing more."

Dawn was giggling too hard to answer.

She rolled her eyes and laughed. "Okay, so we did discuss running off to Mexico. But we didn't go through with it."

"If you run off to Mexico with Cedric, can I have your cat?" Dawn stretched out on the bed and looked at Isabel hopefully. "Annie's really cute."

"Sorry but I'm taking her with me," Isabel said, shaking her head sadly. "I think she'd like chasing crabs on the beach while we hung out in hammocks."

"You're no fun," Dawn said with a straight face for all of two seconds before she grinned. "So, how's everything else? You missed zero invasions here, so it was a good holiday."

"I know, I'm just a truly, absolutely, horrible person. Someone should warn all the new people about me." She unwrapped a piece of chocolate and stared at it for a minute. "Mostly I'm good. I'm worried about Jack a little. But other then that, all's right in Isabel's world."

"Why? What's wrong with Jack?" Dawn asked.

"He had to take a trip over the break," Isabel said. "From what I can tell, it wasn't all fun and games. He's tired, out of sorts, so I worry."

"I hope he's okay," Dawn said with a frown.

"He will be," she said firmly. "I'll just fuss over him until he is."

"That should definitely make him want to get better," Dawn said. "God forbid he disappoint you."

"Hey! I really do worry about him!" Isabel said. "And he'd never disappoint me!"

"I know you do, but you get a little scary determined when you want something to happen," Dawn explained her reasoning. "I can't imagine that he wouldn't get better if that's what he knew you wanted."

"Me? Determined? Never!" But she laughed, "I know I can go overboard at times. But in this case? I really do want him to be okay. He doesn't have much time left and I want it all to be happy times."

"Doesn't have much time left?" Dawn sat up and stared at Isabel, wide-eyed and imagining the worst. "He's dying?"

Isabel blinked. Repeatedly. Then laughed out loud. "Dying? No! He graduates in May you dope!"

Dawn hid behind her hair, blushing. "I knew that."

Patting Dawn's shoulder, Isabel smiled. "It's an honest mistake. Especially the way I phased it."
