Room 406, evening

Workshops and Rikku's Party meant Isabel didn't get as much done on Monday as she would have liked. So after crashing the insane class and finishing up at the library Isabel was a little busy getting everything ready. Fortunately by the time 7:00 came, dinner was ready and dessert was hidden out of sight.

After getting back from workshops for the day, changing and relaxing, Cedric's knocking lightly on Isabel's door.

"It's open," she called out, setting the last of the dishes out onto the picnic blanket she'd spread on the floor.

Cedric pushed open the door and smiled immediately upon entering. "It smells good. Did you need any help?"

"Just with making sure they're no leftovers," Isabel smiled. "Which hopefully shouldn't be a problem. Well as long as you like pasta."

"I like pasta," he said, nodding. "What kind of pasta? Can I carry plates or forks or napkins?"

"Picnic," she told him gesturing at the blanket on the floor. "We're all set. I just need to uncover stuff. Annie kept trying to walk through it."

"All right," he said, taking a seat on the blanket. "You didn't have to go through so much trouble for me."

"It's not trouble. I enjoy cooking occasionally, you enjoy eating. It's a perfect match." Isabel pulled the towel she had covering the dishes off and then started to uncover the serving dishes.

"There's salad, some breadsticks and some penne with vodka sauce. I'm pretty sure the alcohol is all burned off, but it I wind up sloshed with dinner? Just tuck me in and lock the door behind you."

"I'd sleep on the floor to make sure you were all right," Cedric said and went for the salad first.

"I'll keep that in mind. I wouldn't want to step on you in the morning," she laughed, spooning some pasta on her plate. "You'd bruise."

"You step that heavily?" he asked.

"Before I've had my coffee? It's possible," Isabel warned.

"I fear your feet," he teased.

"Hey!" she said. "Remember who stood on those feet to cook you dinner!"

"You said I'd bruise if I got stepped on!" Cedric said. "Fear the feet!"

Isabel rolled her eyes. "Well don't sleep on the floor then! Take Xander's old bed."

"That would be the logical thing to do," Cedric agreed. "Thank you for dinner, Isabel."

"Logical but not necessary. If it hasn't bothered me yet, it won't," she pointed out. "And thanks are not needed. Consider it a present."

"A present for what?" Cedric asked, clueless.

Isabel threw her napkin at him. "You've honestly forgotten it's your birthday?"

Since it was a napkin, it didn't do much more than flutter harmlessly into his lap.

"...no." He had.

She didn't believe him. "I'm sure."

"I just didn't realize it," he explained. "I haven't been keeping track!"

"Well aren't you glad I did?" Isabel smiled at him. "Otherwise you would have missed out on cake."
