Room 406, evening

Workshops and Rikku's Party meant Isabel didn't get as much done on Monday as she would have liked. So after crashing the insane class and finishing up at the library Isabel was a little busy getting everything ready. Fortunately by the time 7:00 came, dinner was ready and dessert was hidden out of sight.

"That would be the logical thing to do," Cedric agreed. "Thank you for dinner, Isabel."

"Logical but not necessary. If it hasn't bothered me yet, it won't," she pointed out. "And thanks are not needed. Consider it a present."

"A present for what?" Cedric asked, clueless.

Isabel threw her napkin at him. "You've honestly forgotten it's your birthday?"

Since it was a napkin, it didn't do much more than flutter harmlessly into his lap.

"...no." He had.

She didn't believe him. "I'm sure."

"I just didn't realize it," he explained. "I haven't been keeping track!"

"Well aren't you glad I did?" Isabel smiled at him. "Otherwise you would have missed out on cake."

"You made cake too?"

"It wouldn't count as a birthday if there wasn't cake!" she told him, horrified.

"There have been some birthdays where I've been without cake," he said.

"Well now that I know, that won't happen again as long as I'm around," Isabel promised. "I'm sorry I missed last year."

"I barely remember last year," he admitted. "So, don't worry about that."

"I suppose," she said as Annie poked her out from under the bed. "Looks like someone else wants to wish you a happy birthday."

"Hello Annie," Cedric said, smiling at the cat. "Are you being good?"

"Aside from attempting to put paw prints in the pasta, yes. She is," Isabel told him. "And that reminds me, can I ask a favor? Please?"

Cedric reached out to pet Annie and said, "Of course."

"Can you cat-sit this weekend? We're going to attempt to go to New York again," she explained, as she nibbled on a breadstick. "This time I'll be a tourist, not on a rescue mission."

"Of course," he said, smiling again. "Take many pictures for me."

"I can do that," Isabel promised. "And if I find what I'm looking for, I'll bring it back for you."

"What are you looking for?"

"Not telling."

"I know. I'm mean and terrible," Isabel agreed. "But I might have a way to make it up to you."
