Room 406, afternoon

Isabel was amused to wake up and find everything back in color. She was less amused when she looked in the closet and realized that she never got a chance to wear the pretty Homecoming dress she'd ordered online. There was no sign of the mass of tulle she did wear to the dance. Shrugging at the wackiness that is Fandom, Isabel showered, dressed and then settled down on her bed with a book.

The door was open.

"Well I made them more of a lucite/plastic type material because that would be both lighter and safer to wear," she said. "They looked cute. And then today I had to de-pink Jack."

"...why was he pink?"

Isabel frowned, "You know, he never said exactly how it happened. But it was some sort of pink dye he must have picked up during his adventures with the Captain. He was completely pink from his head to his toes. Because of the black and white, no one noticed it at the dance." She laughed, "It must have shocked whoever he woke up with this morning."

"Jack is weird," Greg decided with a sigh, snugging an arm around her waist.

"Jack is amusing," she laughed, wiggling closer to him. "Weird things just happen to him on a regular basis." Isabel rested her head against his shoulder, and started to blush just thinking about what she wanted to talk about. "So remember at the dance? When you said I shouldn't be shy with you?"

"Uh huh," Greg said, lazily tracing a fingertip over her lower back. "You haven't changed your mind on that, right?"

"No, not at all," Isabel promised, shivering at his touch, an action which made her remember Parker's advice to have the conversation at opposite ends of the room. She debated pulling away but decided that for the moment it was better to stay where she was. It made it easier to hide her face against his shoulder if necessary.

"Then what's up?" Greg asked, looking at her with a bit of concern.

"It's nothing bad. I promise. I think," she said, nervousness making her babble. "It's just we talked about baby steps and I was wondering ifmaybenowyou'dwanttotakeabiggerstep." She finished in a rush and hide her face against his shoulder.

Greg paused, turning red and blinking kind of a lot.

After a moment he found his voice. "How - How big a step?" he asked hoarsely.

"How ever big you'd like to it to be," Isabel said quietly, still not willing to meet his gaze. "But if you don't want to, if I'm pushing, then we don't have to." Suddenly worried that she shouldn't have said anything, she started to pull away.

Greg tried pull her back. "Don't go," he said softly. "I just...are you sure?"

She didn't resist and let herself be pulled back. "I love you. That's all I need to know."

Greg kissed her. "I don't want you to be pressured."

"No pressure," she said between kisses. "I want this. Want you."

Some semi-rational portion of Greg's brain made him pull back just a little. "Not tonight."

The rest of him kind of wanted to throw a tantrum and beat up the semi-rational portion.

Isabel reached up to touch his cheek. "No?"

Greg shook his head, and then leaned his forehead against hers. "I want it to be perfect," he whispered.

Mentally, he was kicking himself.

"You're as big a romantic as I am aren't you?" she asked, both pleased and amused.

Greg blushed. "Maybe."

He blushed more. "I'm also pragmatic, and I'll, um, need to go shopping...before."

Isabel blushed to match him. "Oh god yes. I've been through that trauma once. I'd prefer not to repeat it."

Greg raised an eyebrow. "You...buh?"

"No! No! No!! Not me," she said quickly. "It was Max and Tess. And it was not a fun time."

Greg winced. "Oh, ack. But, um, yes. Then you know why...not tonight."

He laughed. "I can't believe I'm saying that. I fail at being a teenage boy."

"You're right," Isabel agreed, smiling. "I'm glad that you said it though, I hadn't really thought much past talking to you about it."
