406, late afternoon - evening

After work Isabel had gotten some dinner and returned to her room. Her conversation with Professor Lyman had given her a lot to think about. She checked the deadlines and it looked like she could pull it off. But it would mean for the next two and half weeks, she'd have to cut back on socializing with friends until the application was done. It was something she was going to have to think about and decide on soon.

For now though, Isabel opened her laptop and set about writing an email to Maria, to fill her in about certain recent events.

The door was open.

"You poked me yes, I remember. Girls shouldn't poke guys," he muttered as he opened the mini-fridge and grabbed a Coke. "Should totally be the other way around." he whispered that last part and took his seat again.

"My love life? What do you want to know, sweetheart?"

"What was that?" Isabel asked. "I didn't hear you."

"Just that things are going well? Have you brought her flowers lately? We like that."

[Crashing now. See you in the morning!]

"Nothing, sweetheart. My head hurts. I mumble sometimes."

He took a drink of his soda. "Brought her some just Monday. It was her birthday. She loved them," he said, smiling slightly.

"You mumble. Sure."

Isabel nodded approvingly, "Flowers for her birthday are good. So are flowers for no reason. Keep that in mind. It'll appeal to her inner romantic. How old is she now?"

"You should be happy to know, sweetheart, that I send her flowers almost every week. Have them delivered to her at work," cause yes, Johnny Storm was quite the guy. "She just turned sixteen."

"Why Johnny, maybe you're the one with the inner romantic," she teased. "Every week? I'm impressed."

"God, sixteen. That's young." Or at least it felt like that to Isabel after the last two years.

"Well, I've forgotten for the last two now. But yeah, I do try." His cheeks might have looked a little pink.

He groaned. "God, I know. She is incredibly young and innocent." And he was only seventeen but still... he was no where near being innocent.

Isabel boggled just the tiniest bit, amused at the pink cheeks. "Are you blushing? That's too cute."

"And that's a problem? Her being young and innocent?"

"I'm not blushing. I never blush. I'm just naturally cute like this," he said without looking at her. Yep, totally drinking his Coke.

He shrugged. "We... sort of talked the other night and you know we haven't yet... and... I shouldn't be telling you this."

That would be Isabel snickering. "Why not? I'm your friend. Friends can talk."

"...are you snickering at me?" God, this was the worst! He couldn't have her making fun of him and crap!

"We can talk but probably not about sex. Unless you're willing to give as well as get?"

"You really want to know about my sex life?" she asked. "Fine I'll tell you. I don't have one at this point in time and I probably won't have one for the foreseeable future. I told you, sex isn't casual for me. I'm not saying that oh my god I'm saving myself for marriage. Cause yeah, a bit late for that now. But its important enough to me to not say, gee I'm bored, let's hop into bed and kill some time." That might have been more then Johnny was asking for.

Probably because he kind of just stared at her in fascination before he admitted, "I don't have a sex life either. Not since Ronan."

Isabel laughed and shifted so she could lean against his shoulder. "Well aren't we just a sorry pair. How are things with Ronan? Radio said you guys danced?"

He chuckled a bit but nodded. "We danced. And we're friends." There wasn't much Johnny could say to that really since Ronan had told him 'Savannah or me'. He couldn't have both and he knew it. Thing was, he loved Savannah. Ronan... well, they didn't get enough time together to develope anything other than a friendship based on mutual lust. Maybe a bit more... Johnny probably wouldn't ever find out.

"That's good. Friends are important," she agreed. "Sometimes more important then anything else."

"Yep, they are." he said, thinking. "But what if one of those friends say... makes you feel something everytime you're around them? Something good, yet at the same time almost something... dangerous. And I mean that in a totally good way."

That was sort of close to how Isabel felt every time she thought about Wyatt after the weekend of no memories. "Then you need to decide if it's something you can ignore, or if it's something you want to act on. You also need to think about who else would be hurt if you decided to act on those feelings."

She looked away, still feeling guilty about Peter even though they'd talked on Wednesday and things seemed to be okay. "That's why I talked to Peter. Because I decided I did want to see whatever it was that was going on with Wyatt. But I didn't want to hurt Peter, well more then I'm sure I did."

"No. I wouldn't act on those feelings. I would never intentionally hurt anyone. Anyone can call me anything they like, but I would never cheat on the one I'm with." Yes, being called a harlot on the radio was getting to him.

Johnny gave Isabel a thoughtful look. "It was a caring thing you did, Isabel. Talking to him. Even though it might have hurt, in the long run Peter has got to be thankful that you came to him."

"I believe you," she said sincerely. "But what are you going to do? Just ignore what you're feeling?"

"Hopefully. We talked the other night. And things seem okay. So I'm glad. He's my friend. I wouldn't want to lose that."

He reached out for her hand. "I don't know what else to do. They say if you ignore something long enough it will go away..." But he didn't believe that. Not really.

"No, I imagine not. And really," he met her eyes and gave her hand a squeeze. "I'm happy for you... honestly."

Isabel took his hand and held on. "They lie. You can ignore something only so long. Then it'll blow up in your face.

"Really? Because I get the impression you really don't like Wyatt or Chris."

"Maybe," he said. "Hopefully in my case that won't happen. I'd hate to think I was losing a friend though." No. No matter what, Ronan was and would remain, his friend.

He shrugged. "They're not half bad, Isabel, honest. I've had to put up with some crap from them... but... they're not half bad."

There was a good chance there was going to be an implosion at some point Isabel realized. Hopefully people she cared about were going to be too hurt by it.

"No, they're not. You're not jealous are you?" she asked, mostly teasing.

"Pfft, me? Jealous?" Johnny smirked. "Of course I'm not jealous." He looked down at her hand. "I just happen to think you could do better is all."
