406, late afternoon - evening

After work Isabel had gotten some dinner and returned to her room. Her conversation with Professor Lyman had given her a lot to think about. She checked the deadlines and it looked like she could pull it off. But it would mean for the next two and half weeks, she'd have to cut back on socializing with friends until the application was done. It was something she was going to have to think about and decide on soon.

For now though, Isabel opened her laptop and set about writing an email to Maria, to fill her in about certain recent events.

The door was open.

"Mr. Curly is a very nice guy and I'm going to be spending a lot of time with him," she told him. "I'd like it if you could play nice."

"I'll have to see if they accept me first."

"Why?" Johnny sort of whined and it wasn't very attractive. "He's just... well he's not... can he catch himself on fire and fly?"

Isabel and Wyatt. Johnny didn't like the sound of that. "I think I'm getting a headache. Do you have any aspirin?"

"No. But he can orb me to to Roswell in a blink and TK just like I can," Isabel told him. "Not that that's important."

Rolling her eyes, Isabel disappeared into the bathroom, returning a moment later with a bottle of aspirin and a glass of water. "Here."

Johnny mumbled under his breath while she went into the bathroom. "He can orb me to Roswell in a blink and TK just like I can and big freaking deal... "

He smiled at her and took the asprin when she came back, knocking back a couple with the water. "Thanks, sweetheart. You sure are looking pretty tonight."

"Flatterer," she smiled, taking a seat back on her bed. "So how are you? Did you and Savannah have fun at the dance?"

"We had a great time, Isabel. She looked so beautiful. Did you enjoy yourself? You totally should have saved me a dance."

"I had a good time," Isabel told him, deciding not to get into the more confusing parts of the evening. "I looked for you but there was such a crowd. I must have missed you."

"That's too bad too because I was looking so good. Probably better than anyone else you might have danced with," he said with a wry little smirk.

"I'm sure you looked wonderful. Did anyone take pictures?" she asked. "I'd love to see them. But I don't know, I did dance with a bunch of great looking guys. I'm not sure I'd be able to say who looked the best."

"There were pictures? Uh. Must have missed that part. Maaaan!" He grinned over at her. "You were looking beautiful. I saw you, you know."

"I'm sure someone has pictures somewhere for yearbook or something," Isabel told him. "And if you saw me and didn't come over, well, that means it's your fault we didn't get a chance to dance. Now you're going to have to wait till the Valentine's Dance."

"All right, blame me if it makes you feel better. Not like my head was in the clouds or anything like some people," he smirked. "Valentine's. Hmm. Think you'll wear red and slinky?"

In a very mature response, Isabel stuck her tongue out at him. "As for Valentine's, I haven't thought that far ahead. Right now my mind is on applications, the beginnings of Christmas planning and what I'm doing on Saturday."

"Originally it was going to be a wedding," she teased. "It's just going to be a date now."

Johnny rolled his eyes. "You are not getting married. And who you going out with?" Like he couldn't guess.

Isabel smiled happily. "Wyatt and I are going out on Saturday. Like you didn't know that already. Stupid radio announced it to the world."

"Maybe I don't listen to the radio. Or maybe I listen to the radio and don't hear certain parts. Or maybe I just drown out Curly. Where are you going? Do you need a chaperone? Cause right now I don't have any plans."

"Johnny," she said firmly. "I love you dearly. But if I see you anywhere around here at any point on Saturday? I will toss your ass through the wall. I really, really appreciate your concern. But I think I can handle this on my own."

"Are you pms'ing? Cause I think you might be a touch cranky here, Isabel." Johnny raised his brows and did a bit of a mock whistle thing. "Got any Coke?"

"Do I need to remind you that the last time you asked that question you got stabbed?"

Isabel rolled her eyes and pointed at the mini-fridge. "Help yourself and then why don't we talk about your love life."

"You poked me yes, I remember. Girls shouldn't poke guys," he muttered as he opened the mini-fridge and grabbed a Coke. "Should totally be the other way around." he whispered that last part and took his seat again.

"My love life? What do you want to know, sweetheart?"

"What was that?" Isabel asked. "I didn't hear you."

"Just that things are going well? Have you brought her flowers lately? We like that."

[Crashing now. See you in the morning!]

"Nothing, sweetheart. My head hurts. I mumble sometimes."

He took a drink of his soda. "Brought her some just Monday. It was her birthday. She loved them," he said, smiling slightly.

Isabel nodded approvingly, "Flowers for her birthday are good. So are flowers for no reason. Keep that in mind. It'll appeal to her inner romantic. How old is she now?"
